What it means to link your NIN to your sim in Nigeria

In Nigeria, National Identification Number (NIN) is used to identify individuals and it is a unique 11 digit number assigned to every individual in the country. With the implementation of the NIN-SIM linkage policy by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), it is now mandatory for all Nigerians to link their NIN with their mobile line in order to continue using the network.

The introduction of this policy has caused a lot of uproar amongst internet users in Nigeria due to the stressful process of registering for NIN. However, with the advancement of technology, registering and linking NIN to your mobile phone has become pretty easy and fast.

In this blog post, we’ll be discussing in detail how to link your NIN to your mobile line in Nigeria without stress. Regardless of the network you’re using (MTN, Airtel, 9Mobile, or Glo), this article covers every necessary information you need to know.

Steps to Link Your NIN to Your Mobile Network In Nigeria

Step 1: Register for NIN

The first step is to register for your NIN if you do not already have one. To do this, you will need to head to the nearest National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Enrolment Centre and provide the necessary documents for registration. After successful registration, you will be given a NIN slip which contains your details and your 11-digit National Identification Number.

Step 2: Link Your NIN to Your Mobile Network

Once you have your NIN slip, you can now proceed to link it to your mobile network. You can do this by either dialling the USSD code or by visiting the nearest customer service centre of your mobile network.

For MTN customers, dial *785# and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process.

For Airtel customers, dial *121#, select 4 (NIN Capture), and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process.

For 9Mobile customers, dial *200*8#, select the NIN option, and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process.

For Glo customers, dial *109# and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process.

If you are unable to do this via USSD code, you can also visit the nearest customer service centre of your mobile network provider and present your NIN slip to link your NIN to your mobile number.

And that’s it! You have successfully linked your NIN to your mobile network in Nigeria.

Conclusion

Linking your NIN to your mobile network in Nigeria is now made easy. With the steps outlined in this article, you can now easily link your NIN to your mobile network without stress. So, if you have not done so, it is highly recommended that you link your NIN with your mobile number as soon as possible to avoid having your line blocked.
